Competition Brief: What Does Amber Heard Belive?

With the dust settling on the first Amber Heard / Johnny Depp trial, Heard and her new team are rallying for an appeal. Given the incredible landslide of reaction in the court of public opinion, one might question the wisdom of any second round. Still, considering Depp’s own change of fortune after losing in his case against News Group 2018, perhaps there is logic in the pursuit? After all, it was determined that claims of domestic abuse were substantially accurate enough to support publicly calling Depp a “wife beater.” A quick peruse of the latest online coverage of him though suggests that winning the latest case in the United States has been enough to turn public opinion in his favour.

On the other hand, perhaps it’s not a “play” or “strategy” or “guise” or “plan” or anything else malevolent in the mind of Amber Heard. Perhaps she believes that she is a victim deserving of justice like any other citizen and nothing more. After all, she was partially successful in her counter suit meaning their was some validity to her arguments.

This month’s question is: what do you believe, Amber Heard believes? Given all the accusations, the charges, and the verdicts, what, if anything, does she know is a lie? In contrast, what, if anything, does she sincerely believe? If she was given a consequence free opportunity and confessed to you her unfiltered version of the truth as she perceives it, what would she say? Support your essay with a statement of fact.

Statement of Fact

— In 2018, Johnny Depp sued News Group in a British court for defamation and lost the case.

— In 2022, Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard in an American court and won.

Did she fabricate the charges & makeup stories against Johnny Depp?

Imagine it is 2012, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard first met on the set of The Rum Diary, the two finally started dating. It was a heartwarming experience for both the lover and they were madly in love. They got engaged in 2014. The love made them believe they should hold each other hand for eternity. So, in 2015, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard got married. And then they lived happily ever after… Nope, that wasn’t the case.

So What Happened?

The marriage didn’t even last 1.5 years. It was called off as Amber Heard filed a divorce in May 2016. Amber Heard complained that Johnny Depp used psychologically abuse her. Anyway, the divorce was settled in favor of Amber Heard at around $7 million with a nondisclosure clause attached. But it didn’t end there. In December 2018, Amber Heard wrote an article in Washington Post about her horrific experience in marriage. Johnny Depp filed a $50 million defamation suit against her. It was a public hearing so the conflict between these two was a hot topic for 2 years. Enough mud was thrown at each other. In the end, Amber Heard was found guilty for the most part. Johnny Depp won the suit with 15 million dollars.

So, Amber Heard did get $ 7 million after the divorce. She could have gotten away with it without any defamation. But till the end, she faked the entire truth to get more attention from everyone.

In her 2018 Washington Post op-ed she called herself a “public figure representing domestic abuse,” without ever naming her abuser. She played the “Perfect Victim Rule”. When Famous and wealthy women sharing their stories of harassment and assault under the hashtag #MeToo movement in She thought she could get more attention if she shares her story and get more follower to support her. She believed she could take down Johnny Depp with her charisma and being the perfect victim. She was always trying her best to implement that. Even though she knew she was faking it, she continued to be the right one and wanted all the attention. She wanted to create social justice for women by blaming everything on Johnny Depp. There were lots of Amber Heard followers who wholeheartedly believed her. For example; there is an article in Vogue about Why It’s Time to Believe Amber Heard.

The infamous “fecal matter” in the bed story has been widely reported for years and was brought up during the current trial involving Depp and Heard. When asked what led to him having scratches on his face, Depp replied, “This was yet again another confrontation” with Heard. It implies that her mind is not sound. She also tried to fake the truth. The audio message proved it wrong; “I was hitting you, I was not punching you,”

Heard said to Depp during an argument which was played out in court. The audio recording contains multiple comments from Heard admitting that she hit Depp, though she maintains that she didnt “punch” or “f*** deck” him. As the exchange escalated, Heard said,

“I don’t know what the motion of my actual hand was, but you’re fine. I did not hurt you. I did not punch you. I was hitting you.”

There were no visuals included with this audio evidence as Heard apparently motioned how she actually hit Depp.

“Grow the f up, Johnny. I did start a physical fight.”

Her relationship with Elon Musk solidates that she loves money and fame. Even if Johnny Depp helped her to get the role in “Aquaman”, she was not respectable to Johnny Depp. She kept playing the victim role. Johnny Depp wasn’t a saint either. But Amber keeps coming back with her victim role play. Here’s her statement in her Instagram saying; where she was still trying to justifying her action. Laurel Anderson, a therapist who oversaw marriage counseling sessions with both Depp and Heard, offered testimony shown to jurors earlier in the trial that Depp and Heard partook in “mutual abuse.”

She also added, Amber Heard had personality disorders linked with violence & “making up stories”. So, she was making up stories all the way to play the victim card. A forensic clinical psychologist who evaluated her says,” Heard had disorders associated with violence towards her romantic partners.” That Psychologist also testified in the court that, she diagnosed the actor with borderline disorder & histrionic personality disorder. Curry testified that Heard “severely exaggerated” her PTSD symptoms and people who are prone to violence and making up stories where they cast themselves as victims.

Curry said, “They might take victim role or princess role and even makeup stories.” Sometimes those are to bolster the victim role. Sometimes those stories are just to make them look more interesting or accomplished in their mind, So, they can get respect & attention that way. So, she pretty much played the victim rule all the way.
