An American producer, fashion designer, and one of the greatest hip-hop musician of the 21st century with over 160 million records sold is looking forward to taking part in the 2024 elections.

As a citizen of America, he got the right to take part in the Presidential elections and become the president of the United States of America. But why a famous songwriter, singer, and official billionaire is changing his successful career and heading toward politics without any prior experience?

Stepping into US Politcs

It was 30 August 2015, when Kanye west announced at the MTV Music video awards that he would be running for president in 2020. In December 2015, he mentioned it in his song “Facts” as well. On Independence day via Twitter he posted: “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision, and building our future. I am running for president of the United States! #2020VISION.”

This was the announcement of the Kanye West election campaign for president. This tweet went viral and became the top trending term in the USA, creating another 100,000 tweets following this announcement.

This huge impact behind the tweet is due to the public’s question mind that, is he serious?

Because his announcement came after the fling deadlines to run for a major party in all 50 states. He also missed the deadline of almost 6 states to appear on a ballot as an independent candidate. However, he argued that he should be given the right to gain access to appear on a ballot due to the problems caused by the pandemic COVID-19. But he didn’t gain access to the ballot in most of the states including Florida, Texas, and Michigan.

Somehow he started his campaign by stating that “he would run under the Birthday Party because when he wins, it’s everybody’s birthday.” He tried his luck by gaining access to 12 states.

In which he only managed to get around 70,000 votes. It’s quite a low number, as the total estimated votes were 160 million. His highest votes were 10,188 from Tennessee.

So, should we call it the end of politics for West or just a trial for 2024 as Trump said;
“It could serve as a trial run for West if he were to run again in 2024.” Kanye also tweeted “Kanye2024” showing that his political career is not over yet. He is ready for the upcoming presidential elections.

Reasons behind his Political Struggle

There can be endless reasons behind running for president. Through this career, politicians gain fame, money, and power. But, Kanye is already popular and a billionaire, running into politics can be disastrous for him due to his lack of experience. So, why is he taking this risk?

Divine Interventon

During an interview on the Joe Rogan Podcast, Kanye West was asked why he was running for president when he is so successful in the field of entertainment and music. His answer was; “It is something that God put on my heart back in 2015.”
He further stated that;
“It hit me in the shower and when I first thought of it, I just started laughing to myself, all this joy came over my body, hurts through my soul. I felt that energy, I felt that spirit.”
He considers God’s call above all, to become the president of the United States of America. He further stated that: “God wants me to serve him. I was tired of serving the music industry, tired of filling up stadiums.”

Flourishing Religion

West has chosen a Christian preacher, Michelle Tidball from Wyoming as his running mate. He has also given some views about the governance of the country on various platforms. His mindset specifies that he wants to bring back prayers in school and give support to religious groups. He also encourages his campaign staff to marry, and avoid fornications outside the matrimonial bond.

He was also opposed to unnecessary abortion and major punishments.

He has also officially declared himself a Christian believer. It shows clear signs that he wants to flourish religious teachings.

Candidate of Republican Party

He stated in November 2016 that, he has supported Trump during his elections. He also met Trump and Ivanka on December 2016. So, it is also possible that he may join the Republican party and start his campaign on behalf of Trump. In this way, he can increase his support and enhance his chances to become the President.

Leader of the Free World

Every politician’s fundamental goal is to serve the public by fulfilling their rights. But, a statement by West looks more emotional. He said that; “I believe that my calling is to be the leader of the free world.” The question arises, how? A country has some rules and regulations which the public must follow to maintain law and order. If we talk about slavery, it has been finished a long time ago. So, is it just a publicity statement or there could be a deep meaning to this statement?
This statement can be for Joe Biden, as he said to Kanye;
“If you don’t vote for me, you are not black.”
Sounds rude! Everybody has a right to vote for their favorite candidates. So, Kanye might be feeling a lack of freedom for minorities and wants to expand their rights.

It’s also possible that he may transform the whole system and make America great again by providing a friendly environment to the public. If it’s the calling from God, then God has the
authority to make him the President. And, if he becomes the president, he needs to prove himself as a true leader for the people of America.

Winning Probability

Election 2020 justness the fact that it won’t be easier for Kanye West to become the president. Especially when 1214 candidates are running for elections. During 2020 an independent candidate, Libertarian Jo Jorgensen claimed more than 1.5 million votes from the same states West appeared. It is 20 times more than the votes received by Kanye West. However, West is very confident. He is planning to manufacture the Yeezy brand in the United States adding that;
“We would’ve created so many jobs that I’m not going to run (for president in 2024), I’m going to
walk.”
He is also satisfied that it is possible to win even if you don’t have any political background. Giving an example about Trump he spoke;
“When I saw Trump win, (I could see) that you can win if you come from outside of politics.”
He also referred to Ronald Reagan, who was an actor before he became president. Podcast host Rogan commented that Reagan was governor before he ran for and became president.
Experience Maters Running for Presidential elections to managing country affairs’ is not just a piece of cake. Even a small organization requires experience to select an employee. So, how can a person in the music and fashion industry without any prior experience in politics be so sure about perfectly governing, and leading the country to new heights?

Due to his popularity, resources and support, he can get the majority to become the president. But, he should learn and develop expertise to govern the country, or else he will lose his politics along with his musical career.
