[Nirangan P.] Is Kanye West Serious for President

Competition Brief: Why Did Kanye West Run for President?
In 2020, Kanye West decided he would run for president of the United States. As an American citizen he is within his rights to do so. As a billionaire according to Forbes, he certainly has the resources to do so. Still, one needs to question what exactly was his motivation?
If for publicity, does he need more?
If for money, only being president is financially rewarding: not running.
If on behalf of God, perhaps there should have been more divine intervention?
If in order to serve the country, perhaps there would be more substance in the platform?
If serious, perhaps the run would have been better planned?
If on behalf of Trump, would one famous person sacrifice their own reputation for another?
If delusional, since when or has he always been and riding a wave of equally delusional fans?
Every answer generates more questions.

Introduction
Is he for real? Billionaire hip-hop artist Kanye West became a “Christian awakener”, when he announced he would run for president. His personal resources, name recognition, and record of media attention made him a wild card in enough places to influence the elections.
West sent out a tweet on the 4th August 2020 that he would be running for presidential elections of 2020. This single thread made the internet go wild and not long after that the consequences were met. Many people started questioning about his sanity and countless speculations were made for his extraneous act.
Although he did follow his words, it would be a liberal to say that West’s chances of success were questionable. The Federal Election Commission reviewed his statement to see if West’s filings constituted “false or fictitious claims.” West’s campaign also missed ballot submission deadlines in many states.
It made us wonder if he really meant it or if it was all nothing but a dubious act…but the story doesn’t end there. Kanye is running for president in 2024!!!
Is Kanye really serious?
West announced his 2020 United States presidential election campaign through Twitter on July 4, 2020. He entered the election after missing at least six states’ deadlines to appear on the ballot as a third-party candidate.
In calls and texts with The New York Times, and in different latest interviews, West made clean he believes he turns into president — eventually — however he did not state anything nearly what he sincerely desired to do. But he obviously gave us some hints which we can use to draw conclusions. I know it’s not always the best method, but it’s quite interesting to do so. Does he need more riches? Certainly not, he is a billionaire. We all know politics is a transactional and selfish game and it’s difficult to believe that people run for president due to financial reasons, cause we all know what they have to go through to get elected as one.
Okay, so does he intend to serve his nation? There are various aspects to this question. If you were elected as the president and proposed to the citizens to: Democracy, freedom of speech, freedom of act, freedom of press, guaranteed privacy, and all other basic prerequisites for creating an environment for your citizens to essentially thrive and grow, you serve. Serving can also be justified to a certain group or perhaps, eradicating any of the nation ills that concerns you as an underlying problem.
And as a matter of fact, West desires to carry returned prayer in schools, increment the salaries of members of the educational institutes and lower the cost of textbooks, supply greater authorities aid to non-secular companies and has even requested his marketing campaign team of workers to chorus from “fornicating” out of doors of marriage, in line with people helping his candidacy.
West is a longtime critic of Forever Wars, and he’s been rapping about it for over a decade. “Been a don, praying for the families lost in the storm “, “Bring our troops back from Iraq, keep our troops out of Iran”, are the various lines he used in his music. He has also spoken out about prison reforms in the past.
West is also a no stranger in matters of faith and religion. He is devotee of Christianity and has previously published a music album named “Jesus is King”. He hinted that his presidential run may be his most fusion of faith and politics yet as one article put it “West believes that God played a role in his decision to run for President”. It sounds like a bluff when you hear that in his interviews, but it’s unclear. Even if it’s true and God has given him a certain task as a president, it’s difficult to discord what’s he is up to.
More Publicity? Yes, but no. As a renowned music artist, West is highly famous for his works and has a very strong fanbase. As a president, you will have an army of democrats, socialists or perhaps even republicans; depending upon your ideologies and believes which is not yet revealed yet in the case of West. If he’s really serious, then he must give up in his music career. I mean he cannot possibly throw a rap battle at the white house.
An unavoidable element of West’s candidacy (which I think) is his bipolar disorder, which he has spoken of in the past. His wife, Kim Kardashian West, only spoke about this just days after West participated in South Carolina’s only campaign, during which he burst into tears. This gives us some hints towards his candidacy and his disorder. Furthermore, the wife quotes him as a “great but complicated person”, constantly dealing with pressure and isolation.
A disorder associated with episodes of mood swings ranging from depressive lows to manic highs. The exact cause of bipolar disorder isn’t known, but a combination of genetics, environment and altered brain structure and chemistry may play a role.
His chaotic start to an unlikely campaign to overthrow Trump in presidential elections has sparked anger, concerns about his sanity, and for his run. As usual, it raised questions about whether he was serious about it. His actions convey a touch of extremism. I don’t think he is intractable or difficult to bargain with, but it may be probable that he believes his values are more eminent than the system itself.
Extremism is a difficult concept. Extremists have a vision on how the world should be. Take the case of Kim Jong Un, the supreme leader of North Korea. These people refuse to negotiate with others and refuse to acknowledge anything that is deviating from their own things. They have selfish desires and they cannot be trusted to follow the path of others. They are by definition, “childish”. In the case of West, we don’t see anything severe about it. The main trouble here is that his “believes” or “values” have not yet seen the light of the day, if he has anything to offer in the first place.
All of this leads me to believe that the root cause for his candidacy is his bipolar disorder and that his seriousness is a mere joke. This all-God thingy he mentioned in in the past doesn’t make any sense to me. Many democrats see his candidacy as a dirty Republican trick. His break down during a rambling speech, no prior planning in his campaigns and announcing his candidacy in a place like twitter made people like me, think of him as a lunatic. He mentioned that his inspiration for his candidacy came while he was in his bathroom taking a shower. Did the Gods from heaven really visit him? Or it was all an act to hide his true intentions.
Kanye West, wearing a bulletproof jacket that read ‘Security’, broke down in tears Sunday in Charleston, South Carolina, during a rambling speech aimed at boosting her candidacy for the White House.
Conclusion
In an affluent and advanced world, we are not surviving a crisis of wealth or material, but a crisis of character, a crisis of virtue, and a crisis of means and ends. In a way, this applies to Kanye as well.
It’s no longer a debate of communism over capitalism, freedom over equality, some believes over other believes, but rather of maturity versus immaturity.
More claims only leads to more questions, and more questions only leads to more dilemma’s. What do you all think? Leave us in the comment
